Google Puts a Big Smile on the Face of Microsoft

Steve Ballmer should now be a relieved man because his counterpart, Eric Schmidt, has clearly told industry analysts that Google is unlikely to create its own Web browser.

Steve can breathe a sigh of relief because the next version of IE will only have to compete with existing players like Firefox, Safari and Opera. Google Explorer is not entering the game anytime soon even though gbrowser.com is owned by Google.

Google has decided against developing a separate Web Browser as users seem satisfied with the existing browsers (including IE). Google's only concern with IE7 is a Firefox Search Box like feature that makes MSN the default search engine on new installations.

This makes sense since Google has an excellent partnership with Firefox and even Ben Goodger, one of the Lead developers of Firefox is a Google Employee.
